Winter Rims & Tires

Hey guys,

Just researching to see what kind of winter rim and tire setup everyone is doing out here. I'm planning on getting a set before winter kicks in because they're a little bit cheaper before October hits. I wanted to go with the 17" x 8" steelies. Looking to see if anyone has gone with a wider rim. Also, seeing if anyone has ran a 245 wide tire for winter on their explorers.

For winter only on-road tires wider is not necessarily better.

Well right now i'm running the 20" Adrenaline wheels with the 255/50/20 Goodyear Eagle tires. That's why i'm looking to retain the width on my explorer. There's more variety in 235 wide tires and they do run a little bit cheaper. The Goodyears didn't do so great last year, I wasn't 100% confident on the road and the AWD was engaging more than I thought.
