My windshield wipers do not turn off, the only time they are off is when you have the ignition off...other then that when you have KOEO or when its started..the wipers run on the slowest delay setting. The relay isn't the problem, I've already checked that. Any other possibilities? I even ripped the whole steering column apart and no broken wires from what I could see. And they DO come on when I turn on my brights or my turn signals. You think it could be a short to voltage or ground somewhere near the wiper motors?

I know mine is not the same year but I was cleaning my ground wires under the hood where they bolt to the inner fender and when I pulled a ground off, mine came on,so just a guess maybe a broke ground.

On most cars the ground wire is required so the wipers will "park" in the correct position. Without the ground wire the wipers will continue running.

Since, you stated that your wipers come on when you turn on your high beams or turn signals, it sounds like a bad Multifunction Switch. Available at www.silverstatefordparts.com & www.rockauto.com.

Not a difficult job. Here is a thread for replacing it: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=279556

Hope this helps out! :biggthump

thanks...time to get on this lol...it bothers me more and more everyday plus its ruining my wipers!!!

Sometimes cars with these computers now-a-days seem to do wierd things.
I would try disconnecting the battery for a while to reset the computer. If your lucky that may fix your problem.
Its worked for me with my truck doing strange things before.

synyster, be sure to let us know how you make out! :D

Bump for an update. :dunno:

sorry took so long to get back..i've been busy with friends cars and my crapolier.... turns out its the multifunction switch..gonna order a new one and switch em out..not to hard...since there's already a write-up on here to replace it already..haha.

ordered the switch today....should be here next week and then hopefully that does the trick...I'm getting tired of them damn wipers staying on ALL THE F'in TIME!

Did the switch fix your issue? Mine are doing this now

I have an extra multifunction switch I'm looking to sell if you (or anyone else) need one.

Thanks for the offer. I went up and cleaned the MFS again (2nd time) except I removed the dielectric grease I put on the circuit board the first time. Wipers work the way they're supposed to now. Only time will tell though.
