Hey Everyone!
I have a 2005 ST and just recently my intermittent wipers stopped being intermittent and is constantly on low speed. High speed works if i switch it to high. But they will not shut off even when the key is turned off. I have to get out and pull the 20A fuse to the motor to shut it off.

I went to the dealer and they gave me a multifunction relay for it. But they couldn't tell me where it goes. I have researched everything i can think of and can't find any information of where this relay goes, or even if my ST has one!! I have been told that it might be a part of the windshield wiper motor assembly but didn't know if it was serviceable or not. HELP!! How can the dealer give me a relay but not know where it goes??? It looks too big to go INTO the assembly but I don't see anywhere that it would go outside of it either. Anybody else have this issue?? Thanks

Here's my guess:

Wiper motors have a PARK position. This is to return the wiper arms to their full down position when they're switched off. Maybe something is preventing your wiper arms from returning to the parked position and this is keeping them running when they should turn off. This might be a mechanical or electrical issue.

This info is from the 2002 Sport Trac factory Wiring Diagram Manual, but it should be pretty similar for the 2005.

Under the hood between the battery and firewall is a black "fuse compartment". That's what is printed on the top of it, but the manual calls it the Battery Junction Box or BJB. In the front corner nearest the fender are 2 relays for the wipers. The relay nearest the fender is the wiper high/low relay. The inner one is the wiper run/park relay.

Thanks 429, but it looks like the 2005 is different. My fuse/relay compartment is called the Power Distribution Box. None of the relays are labeled as being for any wiper relay, or anything to do with the wipers period. There is of course the 20A fuse for the motor and a 7.5A fuse inside the cab. Both are fine.

Hi/low wiper relay locations ARE different on the 2001-03 and the 2004-05 ST. Anyone confirmed it's in the wiper motor?

With older models, most Intermittent wiper systems are fed through the switch. Often, the switch is NOT the part in your hand that you operate but further down the line where the harness plugs in.

I do NOT know where the Intermittent aspect of the Trac is housed.

The newer models do seem to incorporate them in with the motor, not the switch..
