Wiring shift motor to 1354 without GEM swap

Ive heard somewhere that you can wire in the original shift motor on a 2nd gen to the 1354 E case using relays and switches, rather than a GEM swap. Ive searched and searched but couldnt find any information on it. I had made a little manual shifter gearbox thing for the case but I later found out that I didnt have enough room between the case and the gas tank. If anyone knows what Im talking about and could point me in the right direction that would be highly Appreciated Thanks in advance
