Won't start???

97 XLT ---- replaced starter last year, replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor and the Crank Sensor yesterday. It sounds like it wants to turn over, but just won't. Someone suggested that it might be the timing belt, but we never heard the "pop". Engine has 120k on it. Any ideas? Thanks!

i read somwhere, but cant remember if it would crank, but check the ground wire on the starter. hope this helps.
