Hiya...

After Howard fixed my ex I've been able to give if the bifters every now and then..

Acceleration is fantastic and I admit that since it's been fixed I've been playing traffic light grand prix...

Now the self levelling suspension warning light has come on...

Does anyone have any ideas why?

Cheers

Simon

Did this start happening before or after the field trip? If after then maybe you caught something underneath that has pulled a connection loose. Does the compressor come on at all? Have you jacked up the rear without switching off the unit? If so then you may need to re-set it. To do that you jack up the rear and support the frame, then let the axle hang down as low as it will go on the springs. This should re-set the levelling point.

It only started happening when I changed the front left wheel.

I turned it off. jacked up the front of the car then swapped wheels and lowered it then turned it back on again...

Is that the only way to reset it? it sounds mighty awkward... is it not just a case of removing a fuse?

As far as I know thats the only way to do it. Maybe your local tyre place could help you out with their lift.

hmm... I'll have to try that then....

it only comes on after about 10 miles of driving..

every time I turn the car off the light goes off...

You could try 'tricking' the sytem into thinking it's jacked up by popping one of the small ball joints on the ride height sensor and then extending the sensor arm to make it 'think' the axle is lower than it really is.
The light coming on after a few miles/minutes is an indication that 'something' is wrong and the system has shut down due to a 'non-responsive' component. Unfortunately there are loads and loads of components... A system reset would be the first place to start.

I'll have to clean it... it also shudders really badly too... like the teeth on cogs are broken.... or the tyres are struggling for grip.... hard to explain really...I think i've broken it

Re. the shuddering. Could it be be stuck in 4X4 mode after your foray into the countryside? Even though you may have switched the dash switch to 'AUTO', transmission wind-up might be preventing the 4x4 mechanism to release. Running in 4X4 on the road can cause horrendous handling, juddering and expensive sounding noises...
To un-wind the transmission you'll need to select 'AUTO' and jack up at least one wheel. Or have a little drive around on a loose, slippery surface...
It might help us to diagnose your suspension problem if we knew which event happened immediately before the warning light started coming on- playing in the field or swapping the front wheels.

It was the wheel swapping that caused the light to come on, i switched it off while i changed the wheel cos it said to do that in the book....
