Well would like to say im new to this site but here's my problem I bought a 2000terrible explorer xls 5 speed for 800 knowing it needed rockers I drove three hours to mass the guy had it running when I got their he said the battery needed a jump I went down the road filled it up shut it off no problems stopped for food maybe half hour pulled over to buy a soda and the truck wouldn't start their where no codes no loose wires. I noticed beforehand that it wouldn't rev up high past 3200. My dad spent a few hours testing different things. Came back down the next day with a tow dolly and just for laughs turned the key it fired up but still running crappy with a lack of power wont go faster then 70you 75 pushing it. Has started up the four or five times since getting it home but I go to college and can't afford to be stranded wondering if their have been known issues had the same motor in my ranger never had any problems. Please and thank you for any help

You may need to get it checked out by a mechanic. So that you have better idea of where to sart making repairs you have to asume lack of maintenance. Batt plugs wires air cleaner.etc.

My dads a mechanic right now its just sitting till I get paid but I plan on a tune up got good oil and filter to do a change a have a new k&n cold air cone. I have a good coil pack to switch over when I get the garage cleared out. Was basicly just hoping others might have had a similar issue

If it were mine, I would check the fuel pressure.
