worrying problem ? help needed please

Hi guys, last week the 4.0L 97 explorer of mine failed it's m.o.t. it needed welding around the bottom of the left hand wheel well/sill area, this was completed and it then passed it's m.o.t. then the day after when I wen't for a drive as I turned out of the drive there was a terrible juddering, as though one of the brakes was stuck on at the rear ? when I got onto the road it seemed ok then as I made a tight turn the juddering started again, it seemed to come from the middle of the car but again felt as though one wheel wasn't turning properly as though it had a locked rear diff ? it's fine in a straight line and normal corners but any slow turns set of the juddering ? iv'e tried engaging 4 wheel drive, when I do the light comes on but you can't feel anything, (my friends explorer makes a noise, flashing 4x4 light then stays on) engaging low 4 wheel drive makes a clunk
iv'e tried all modes, iv'e tried going backwards in all modes, iv'e pulled the main fuses under the hood all ok, so what could it be ? it changes gear fine and smooth, what could it be ? any help would be appreciated, thankyou

I am not sure what an m.o.t. is... I am guessing some kind of an inspection... I am also not entirely sure what you were having welded. The body? frame? If it was the frame, I suppose it is possible that something is not lined up correctly and causing a bind. Can you provide more info? maybe a picture or two?

ok m.o.t is an anual government inspection in the UK
the welding was just bodywork, done a search and a few ideas cropped up, like i said it feels like in slow tight turns the rear diff is locked up, some suggest an ARC reset what ever that means ? during the mot they test brakes steering etc with wheels of the ground i.e jacked up and moving steering from lock to lock, so some suggest air in system also handbrake is tested under load, personaly it feels like transfer box problem, is there a way to reset everything ?

kinda sounds like it could be stuck in 4 wheel drive ,that would make it shudder on turns .
its actually not good to drive in 4 wheel unless theres snow on the ground .

get it put on a lift and put it in drive and see if all wheels are turning or just 2 .

or if you can get it up on jackstands at home you could try this test too.

what about wheel alignment?that could be off too.
being it just passed inspection i assume the tie rod ends are good as well as rest of suspension.

bad tires??cupped tires?

so many variables here .

if you can get it in 4 wheel low you would know it for sure ,its a very low gear and you would feel the difference right away .
