Hello all. College student buying my second car, my first is beginning to go on me. Im looking at this particular explorer: https://cleveland.craigslist.org/ctd/5012102923.html
and am wondering what things I should look out for when going to look at it. As well as what things I should service on it in the event that I choose to buy it.

V6 = Exploder Just saying. 4 timing chains = good bit to go wrong...

Like Joe said watch out for the timing components. Tell them not to start the truck before you look at it, let them start it when you arrive and listen for a start up rattle. Remember that is an interference engine and rear timing service is an engine out procedure. If it has been taken care of that helps a lot, 99K is fairly fresh (235K on mine) for a well maintained engine. Is that rig a 4x4? If so check operation of the transfer case, and check to be sure it has both driveshafts.

Defiantly look for timing chains. My issues with timing chains are well documented on this forum if you want to look.

Also, it looks like this car is coming from one of those used car dealerships. Personally, I don't like those dealerships. I would ask if you can take the car to your personal mechanic before purchase.
