This site says these shock absorbers alone will lift the entire truck. The way I see it, thats way too much pressure for just shock absorbers and the way they work. It also says it results in a 4 inch lift. I figure if the explorer already needs struts or coilovers to support the whole car that shock absorbers obviously wouldn't be enough. I've heard mixed things from friends but I'm looking for someone with some knowledge on superlift shocks.

In addition to that, I thought if you were to exceed about 3 inches of lift you should replace the control arms and possibly the CV shafts. This site just makes it seem too easy.

The specs on listing of shocks on the link you provided read as though they don't lift the truck themselves, but they are to be used on an Ex with 4" of lift (don't imagine that they are selling many of those).

Maybe I'm missing it, but where does it say that? They are for trucks WITH a 4" lift, (meaning they are likely longer than stock) but I don't see where it says they PROVIDE the lift. Coilovers that lift work OK, but you still need to drop the lower control arm (via a properly engineered lift kit) to accommodate them.

I THINK fOX 2.5 SHOCKS WILL SUPPORT THE TRUCK WITHOUT SPRINGS.

oh i thought you were talking about regular 2.5 inch shocks. i have 14x2.5s on my truck and i dont think they would even come close to holding up my truck. those are air shocks designed to hold up a truck i think.
