X-cal2 and Rancho quick lift.

It sure was a long time comming but worth the wait. The ride setting i have it on gives you a softer ride and not as stiff as stock, i have not tried all the settings yet to see how stiff it gets which would feel more responsive.

Very Nice John!
At least now there are 2 options and the other option of a spring, QL combo.
Donner looks like your gonna get 3+". I look forward to your pics, and your feelings on how the x handles that much lift.

I'm scheduled for tomoro morning... but the lift height, still not sure yet. Can't go to high or the tires will look too small. I'm trying to get it level, but I want it to dip in front just slightly... confused still.

So how did the install go Donner?

I'm under the weather still :) I'll just say it went good, but no pic yet because we need to put the oem coils back on. and I need to finish the lighting. Rear Coilsprings alone are fine, but up front OEMs are strongly recommended.

How are you guys doing with the front end QL? Mine sucks... any advice?

It's getting the front QLs taken off... it should be done tonight. On the fwy, it drives live you're floating - smooooth! But on the street, it bounces. Funny thing is that it looks level with the QL.

I thought the same thing....but now after driving it 300 miles i am used to it. i think it's called suspension! something the x was lacking, they ride like a dump truck. I did crank up the setting on the front to 8 to firm up the ride. do you have the OEM coils on?

Donner are the struts ok....I broke one when releasing the coil ( it leaked oil and was hissing). Rancho sent out a new strut overnite mail. that may make the front end bounce if the struts are bad.

They were inspected before and after the first install, and they're being inspected now... I adjusted the settings from 1 to 9 on all 4, and bounced. I don't think they're defective, I think, like you said, the break in is necessary. I just can't do it... so now, the QL were 4 for the price of 3, if a refund is given, it could only be on one, no? The oem coils are mine until they sell.

So, QL w/oem on the rears, CS w/standard struts up front...

The part no. is (780)for an 03 w/265/75/16. My vehicle has 265/70/17, which says the part no.(797) for an 04 should be used. My rim size stock was 17. The rear part numbers for 03 and 04 with those tires and rims use the same part no. (781)

Before you order QL, if you have an 02 or 03, check their website. The strut is based on a stock rim of 16" My stock is 17" The result = bounce. Coilsprings is not this complex, and they are less expensive. Well, either or, as long as they fit.

Are you guys saying that the QL is not good? The bank tells me the money will be in my account in the morning and I want to know if I should spend the money on the QL or not. the x-cal2 is a for sure but I'm starting to think about putting the money toward something else. Sounds like the QL isnt that good.

QL is very nice!

It's the 03... Rncho base the application on a stock 16" rim, but mine came with a stock 17" but the rear is universal for the 3rd gen - rears are fine, they actually do very well! The fronts, i went with KYB struts and Coilsprings - altogether, it's a perfect match!

QL - rears
Coilspring clearance up front -

Sorry, but I'm missing the point on the rim thing. 16, 17, 20 should make no difference. Is the stock spring different for 16 and 17? what was your stock tire size? I have a 03 xlt stock 16". I am/was poised to buy but am having doubts. Do you still have your stock spring # handy?

That's the trippy part, only one guy said that it would bounce if the wrong application was used - and it bounced. My stock rim was 17" and my current is 17" Let me see if I can get that oem number...

Front oem coils 4L2Z-5310-DA

1L2C.5310.DD definitely different. How about the KYB how bad was the cost on them and did you have to denote the 17" rim?

PS I see on gorancho the devlopment tire size 265/75/16
What is your tire size now? 265/75/17 ?

KYB was easy... I walked into Carquest, asked, and received! They were about $95.00 each +/- I told him 03, 4x4, 4.0 4dr... done deal. But my vehicle was outside the window, so he may have made the observation that I had 17" rims. I don't remember if he asked :) Aside from the price difference, I can't knock the performance of the QLs on the rear of the vehicle - works great!
