X-cal2 and Rancho quick lift.

Colisprings is simple, just elongated springs. For what you are doing, CS would be best. QL has no simplicity when it comes to 03s. 03 has some type of split year thing where some applications work fine, and others don't. you would save money and time going with CS. neither CS nor QL will affect any offroading - it's actually what will help you to be off road... i have CS in front and QL in back. smooth as silk!

be waiting...

Oh and I got some nice new grills on the front of my Explorer. Top and Bottom. I'll post my pics Sunday maybe.

aaah! grills... they just make the vehicle so much cleaner looking!

Thanks Donner ... I actually meant to say the QL was adjustable not simple ... I like the idea off stiffening them off road ... can you tell the difference in settings, or is it like my 10 speed mower that really has two speeds.

ha! i can't tell the diff between any of them...just know that it's a blast having them on there! the turning ratio is improved, gotta slow down tho, no rolling... it's just a 100% improvement! you can choose anything for the rear struts, but for the front on an 03, CS, to avoid problems, but you can try QL all around too... these products are really worth the money!

OK, sorry for being confused here, but the tire size thing has got me stumped. I have a 2004 with the stock 16"rims, but I put 265 70 R16's on. Which QL do I go with? I could go with the ones they developed for the 02-03 which is for the 16", or I could go with the 04-05 which is for the 17". I guess the size tire matters more then the year right? I want to get these ASAP with the deal they have going. Can anyone help?

Thanks

I'm still wating for my programmer to show up. lol I hate the mail system.

Sorry I haven't been on for a long time. Anyway Yes I have it.

That's okay... Demonstration when you have time? :)

Best bet would be to call and ask them,
But I'd assume, if you drive an 04', get the QL for an 04'.
Just my thoughts, take them as you will.

cheers

Ben.

Well Donner I went against your good advice and put QLs on the front of my x. I wanted to put CS on but I had a limited amount of time to get it done before I moved up to Steamboat Springs. I wanted an experienced off-road shop to do the work so I went with 4wheelparts out Denver. They did a good job but I don't think they were any cheaper then any mechanic in the mountains.

The main reason to do the lift (besides looks) was to give the front tires more clearence while off-roading. Therefore I just put the QLs on the front and replaced the rear shocks to match. If I had the time to do the CS I would have done 2.5 front and 1.5 rear. As it is I got about 2 inches lift in the front for a more leveled look.

I didn't experience the hop that Donner talked about until I pulled about 4000lbs at slow speeds. Thankfully I didn't experience it after I got up above 40mph. I will post some pics on the lifted Explore thread.

:) As long as it works out well for you, that's the plan... That bunny hop QL thing had something to do with the odd part number for my front springs and the model rim size problem - Coilsprings doesn't have that problem. You did the right thing... bunny hopping is kinda scary.

Rancho QL

hey everyone...this is a great site which I am just discovering. I have just updated my ex. I put 2 " spacers from roadbully on the back and Rancho QL on the front. My tires are 265/70/17 BFG A/T's. The ride looks absolutely awesome but the QL is superstiff and has no give at all. It feels like i am driving a lowrider and I bounce a bit while driving. I am going back to the shop where I had them put in to see what we can figure out but I was wondering if you guys have any advice? My stock suspension was normal but now my ride quality sucks because of the front end...not the back end. help?

I'd do RB's on the front end also... Warranty return on the QLs. Don't beat yourself up trying to figure it out... it's easier :)

WHere did you order your quick lift kit from dude did you get a good price for it??

QLs you can buy from almost any tire shop. Usually, I'd recommend them for the rear wheels but not the front - you might wanna try coil spacers instead - less expensive, much less.

I'll 2nd Donner on that. QL are expensive and touchy. The first set I had worked great, but started to leak. I have had problems getting a good alignment since I got them replaced. I do have the theory that a person can go past the 3" limit on the front end if they combine RB spacer with a QL. I am waiting to get that 2nd vehicle to try it. Some days I don't think it will happen at all.
