xfer case removal

The vehicle wont move without the transfer case.
You can definitely start the truck without the transfer case but of course it wont' go anywhere.

I think the question is: Can he add the tail piece from a 2WD tranny to his transmission, and drive the truck as a 2WD truck. Is this correct?
