just as the title says,,
ive soaked em with pb blaster,, and im using a breaker bar,, with all my force, it seems like i get to a point that the socket is going to break..or the bolt is going to strip
is a 15mm 6pt socket the best fit for these bolts? how much would an impact benefit me?

BTW its a 4.0 vin x

Run it till they get screamin hot, than try

i agree, get it really hot, when i do exhaust i use a mapp gas cylinder to heat the nuts and bolts ups, works like a charm

Be careful about how much torque you apply to the bolts. Use the PB blaster and heat repeadly, a propane torch may be hot enough. Too much torque from an impact gun and you will break the bolt off in the manifold. Then you will have to drill it out. You think that getting to that bolt is a pain, try to get to it with a drill bit. Be patient.

Unclemeat, the stock manifolds are threaded? Is there room for a nut on the other side?
Its been a long time since I dealt with 4.0L stock manifolds I cant remember.
I have had to cut Y pipe bolts and drill through, either weld in a new stud, or drill through and use new bolts.

PITA they can be.

I vote for clean around it with a brush and PB blaster (if coated in mudd/dirt/rouge)

get it hot, while its warm use your 6 point socket (15mm? many Ford are 14mm) and a longer breaker bar and apply steady pressure. Sometimes you can actually break it loose by tightening a 1/8 turn first as well.

If it breaks, be prepared ahead of time with the fix, either weld on a new nut and keep trying, or drill it out (PITA)

Like I said I have cut Y pipe factory bolts more than once.

Gen 1 manifolds are threaded. When we swaped in a used motor, both had frozen bolts on the manifold. There was room for a washer and bolt, but what a PIA.
