Time to replace the Dunlop Radial Rovers on the '96 XLT 4x4. The Ex is all stock and is the wifes daily driver. The Dunlops were a good tire but wore out way too fast.

I would like a tire for her that is fairly quiet, comfortable and good in the rain. The size will remain the stock 235/75-15. 90% of the driving will be on road but we have a cabin in snow country and it has a fairly steep drive that does not get plowed. I would need something that does pretty good in soft snow. And, of course I would like to get about 40k miles out of this wonder tire.

What are your recommendations? Keep in mind that tirerack won't sell me a HT. All they say they can sell me is the AT. Do I stick with AT or is there a HT that will fit the bill for me that I can just order and have mounted locally?

Currently I'm looking at Yoko Geolander, Michelin LTX and BFG. Thanks guys!

BFG AT. A bit noisier than the total-road tires, but not bad at all and great traction and wear.

Thanks for the suggestion Alec. You're referring to the BFG AT KO? That's the one I was looking at.

Any thoughts on the Bridgestone AT Revo? It got great reviews on Tirerack.

I don't have any experience with the Revos, but many members have converted to them from BFG AT KOs.

even the regular Bridgestone Dueler ATs are a good tire

i plan i purchasing a set of these when my generic ATs wear out

or i'm going with the Goodyear Supersport HTs, they don't even look like an HT, they have a pretty good bite

Michelin M/S - I've had those after the past winter... we got like 6' of snow here... didn't get stuck once. They are the best tire out there, for those of us who dont go offroading.

I got the Goodyear wrangler APT's put on...so far i love em, much better wet traction than the RTS'

I have had the above Goodyears on for about 3 years now, great when new but after 10k they are crap, and I have only 30k on them and they need replacement, I'll never go with Goddyear again.

Well, I went with the Revo's based on the tirerack.com reviews and the raves here on the boards. So far I am happy with them. Good rain traction (got them on just in time for a downpour) and they are quiet enough on the highway. There's more wind noice than tire noise. I'll be heading up to the cabin next weekend and will be testing their snow ability. It's a good looking tire and they are working out so far. I just hope I get more miles out of them than the Dunlops I just pulled off.

Thanks for all of the help!

Sean.

Sean,

How many miles did you get out of the Dunlops? I have about 10K on them already and still look pretty good.

Joe

Hey Joe. I got about 25k out of the Dunlops.

I used to work with a guy that whose previous job was with Dunlop. When I first put the Radial Rovers on the Ex I told him I got them. His response: "Great tire. You'll love them the short time that you have them." He wasn't kidding. I did like them but they wore out too quickly.
