Hey guys, first post on this site, a buddy of mine is looking for new tires for his X. How do these two tires do in sand and general off-roading... but nothing real hardcore. He'll be running 31x10.50. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I have the Yoko's. Check this thread out for my take on them.

The Yoko's have great reviews on Tirerack.com... My theory on these tires.. They are a softer compound, so they give you great handling but you have to be careful with rotations. Also, this softer compound will prohibit the longevity of the tire. Well, tirerack sells these tires for $90 and BFG AT KO's for $154 (265/75-16). So, maybe the Yoko's don't last as long as the BFG's. The Yoko's seem to be good through 40k where the BFG's can go 50k. So you get 20% more treadlife with a BFG for 42% greater price.

Basically, for $64 less/tire and only 10k less mileage, I think the Yoko's will be on my truck come summer.

i was also deciding between the yoko's and the pirelli scorpion at's. i ordered the scorpions(tirerack) and should have them monday or tuesday. probably get them on wednesday and i'll let ya know my first impression.;)

Scorpions

Did you get them on yet?

no, i just got them today. i can't say performance yet, but they are an amazing looking tire. i'll be getting them on anyday now and then i'll give you my impression.

Lovin' the Yokos

I've got the Geolandar AT+IIs on my X right now, in 235/75R15, and they are awesome. Once I aligned my front end, they were whisper quiet, and they are wearing really well - 14k so far and you can hardly tell, but that's probably 75% interstate miles.

With all this snow we've had here (2 1/2 ft) I was pulling people out right and left. I hauled a friend's berreta thru a parking lot almost 2 ft deep - it was flowing over his hood . He's a die hard Chevy man, and he said "dude your truck's a monster!". I was driving thru drifts along I 25 that were coming over my hood and sending snow onto the windshield. Barely made it thru that though.

They're also great through deep water on the road - no hydroplaning. Done quite a bit of off-roading here too, and they've never failed to impress me. Now I just wish I'd gotten the 31s.

well, i got the pirelli's on yesterday and they are amazing. NO MORE 60 MPH SHAKE! yes, yes, yes. at least up to 75 mph. i'll test it on the turnpike soon and let her open up to 85-90. but everyday to and from school it would shake on the highway as soon as the needle hit 60 and got worse as it wen't up. today, no shake at all. they ride great. also had my torsion bars adjusted, raised a little. also, no rubbing at all with them being 31's. theres my 2 cents. i'm impressed with them so far, only been 2 days but they already solved some problems.
