Vehicle: '98 Ford Explorer XLT Before: After: Equipment Using: - FX-R projectors - Clear Chrome Headlight Housing's - Slim Digital HID Kit (Color: 6000k / Bulb: D2S) Marked the cuts needed to fit the projector's in the housing's. Removed the front lens's off the headlights; 300 degrees for 4 minutes in a gas stove. I used 2x4 pine wood to keep it off the grates but kept a close eye on it. Some more cutting and notching of the housing has made the projector fit pretty nice but still with some room to adjust for final aim. Parts left over from the housings: Materials for the vacuum form setup: So I used some old scrap of MDF 5/8" thick as the...
Since their inception, I have been intrigued by mirrors that have embedded turn signal and have wanted a set for my truck. I finally decided to bite the bullet and obtain a set. There are various types of these devices ranging from the e Bay special external stick-on chevrons to actual replacement glass mirrors. I only wanted the actual replacement glass mirrors; therefore, I ordered a set of non-heated ( this is Florida after all ) signal mirrors from Muth Mirror Systems (Dead Link Removed ) of Sheboygan, WI - kit 200-0037-0. The cost was $219.00. Muth is THE name in signal mirrors. The kit included both left and right side Signal Mirror® assemblies, wire, connectors, and excellent installation instructions. After...

Hey guys...trying to swap out my interior lights to all LEDs...CarID has a ton of "plug and play" LED versions that I would love to use. I was going to follow the route of wiring up a board with individual LEDs resistors, etc, but this would be worlds easier. But before I order, I need to know what size bulbs are in all of the interior lights: - Front dome center light - Front dome driver and passenger map lights - Rear dome center light - Rear dome driver and passenger map lights - Cargo light - Door lights I found the list below on "Modifiedlife.com", but not sure how accurate it is. Can anyone confirm? 1997 Ford Explorer Car Light Bulb Size Chart High & Low Beam Headlamp Light Bulb Size: 9007 or 9007 HID...
Almost done with this project, so I figured I'd post a few pics... I'm using a Morimoto Mini D2S, Gatling Gun shrouds and a couple of LED halo rings. The next part is to replace the side markers with LED arrays and add another LED array for to the side marker for turn signal. Everything off: White LED ring as parking lights. The ring is mounted facing backwards, to refelect into the reflector bowl: Orange LED as additional turn signal: Both sets of LEDs on:
This is a variation from the very good and informative post Interior Dome Light LED Conversion (PICs) by MustangP51. His post didn't really detail much on wiring and provide a ton of detail on the backseat and cargo lighting and also went the much cooler and more complex method of building his own LED boards :D I went with the lazy man 10-LED disc boards that work out of the box and cost about $6 each (when you buy 5 at a time on eBay from ledwholesalers. Ooo, and I did mine in red, lol. I have this all in my build thread but figured I would post here. List of supplies for all 3 sections (with links) * Hot glue gun & glue sticks * Solder iron & solder * Wire * 5 G4-base10-LED discs (red, white, or warm white, can be found from site...
Planing to ditch the roof lights on roof rack. They fit the theme of the truck, but they're old outdated tech, (1 bulb is out) and I have to pull them on and off all the time to go in and out of the garage. I was looking at just mounting similar lights but in LED. This doesn't solve my height issue however. Plan 2.0 was a LED 40" Bar and move it over the windshield similar to jeeps and the full size crowd as done. We're no moving to plan 3.0 This will be a set of three 12-14' LED light bars over the windshield. The center will stationary, and the outer lights will sit back a bit from the middle, and be able to adjust to the curve of the windshield, for more coverage of the horizon. The lights will be mounted to...
How do you turn off 2006 Explorer DRL's? Just like the title states. I am trying to find a way to turn off the Daytime Running Lights on a 2006 Explorer 4x4 RSC. As soon as you put this thing in drive, the headlights come on. I do not want to have to take to dealer as they told me it is a minimum of $135 to do it if it is easy or $250+ if they have to take apart the dash. Can anyone help?
