I may be able to get a rebuilt C6 transmission from an older F250 (85ish). I dont know specifics other than he is junking the truck, and it may be a freebie, so im not going to pass it up.

Is this tranny to big for my explorer? Anyone ever put one in there explorer? Will the transfercase attatch to it(i will be able to find out since I have a spair transfer case from my explorer)?

Keep in mind that the A4LD has 2 solenoids. You will get a CEL, because your PCM will detect open solenoids. You might want to just connect the old solenoids onto it just to prevent a CEL from coming up. There is a sticky here from Gremlinstien about transmission adapters.
