oil pressure gauge

i dont put a whole lot of faith in factory gauges, but lately ive noticed that the oil pressure gauge needle has been staying steady on the N in normal. when i had my ranger it stayed usually on the M or R. is this something i should worry about? i have to take it on a 2 hour trip down the turnpike in a few days and the last thing i need is for this thing to sieze up on me. it has 100,815 mi and i just did an oil change. could the oil pump be going?

1st gen oil gauge is only an on/off switch. if you have more than approx
5 psi it will read in the middle. link on site to turn into real gauge.
