Is this about the supposed 3.0L ecoboost engine?
do to put fuel to a fiction fire, with a grain of truth. since the advent of the 2.7L ecoboost, the 3.5L ecoboost is eventaully going away.
reasoning - in the EU they are taxed on engine displacement as well as total cost of the evil car device. thus the 3.5L ecoboost while nice puts a vehicle in a different tax bracket.
This is why you see euro cars having 3.2, 2.9 etc displacements across the board.
So it's easily feasible the next gen Taurus, and other Ford car platforms that are worldwide will see the 3.5 go away completely in favor of the 2.7 and 3.0L ecoboosts..
with the 3.0 having a higher manifold pressure than the 3.5 did so as to make up some of the difference. also expect some gearing changes in a 8sp or other transmission options.
