On my 91 sport I keep having this problem after I accidentally turned it to far to the left the other day and can't get it to stop what it keeps doing is it sounds like my steering mecs are grinding our I'm cranking the wheel to far could this be because of my going power steering pump or something else

How’s the power steering fluid level?

How’s the power steering fluid level?
Power steering levels fine she's full for hot, and she just started acting up when the power steering pump finally started moaning. It had been squilling since I put a new alternator in it.

If the fluid is burned or old, suck of the old and replace it with new.
Do it while the fluid is warm. Sometimes this will fix a noisy pump.

Fords are notorious for an air leak back at the pump return line. The
hoses get hard and suck in air causing pump noise!
