Have a 2006 Explorer EB with dual A/C, I had to change out the clutch on
the compressor and afterwards, the A/C just doesn't seem to get cold and
the compressor doesn't pump down to cycle. I checked the pressures at 90
degrees outside and the High side was about 175 psi, so I charged it until
about 225, but this did not change the temperature significantly, only a little
colder. Shouldn't the compressor pump down to cycle? Maybe I have it too
full? Help

At 90° the high side should be about 260 psi, low side about 50 psi. That’s what google recommends, and it’s worked fine for my Ex.

If you do overfill it, the compressor *should* turn off so it doesn’t ruin itself. But then you have to deal with getting the r134 out of the system, so try not to overfill it.

I just never have had a problem with this system until recently, are there any instructions anywhere for dual A/C charging. Someone put a lot of leak detector in it and I'm wondering if the expansion valve or orifice tube may be partially blocked?
