great thanks much

Hi, was the 00M12 Kit used on / for the 2005 Explorers?

I purchased the 00M12 kit for a 2001 with Job 2 SOHC. Forget what I paid (I think around $80), but it turned out to be a waste of money. Engine already had the restrictor installed (from factory?), the intake gaskets supplied were for the Job 1 engine and it still rattled just as bad after installing the new tensioner. I'm guessing by 2005 the engines came with the oil restrictor installed from the factory and perhaps as early as the intro of the Job 2's.

OK thanks.

My rear chain is having problems. Since I have to pull the engine I'm likely going to do all the chains parts that need service / are plastic / may fail over the next 30k miles on a 120k 2005 Explorer, 4.0L V6 SOHC.

Right now I'm debating between one of these kits:

Cloyes Engine Timing Chain Kit 9-0398SB

Duralast Kit

Or OEM parts:

OEM $137.92

00M12 intake manifold kit YL2Z9E473AA includes:

I'm not sure if there is a cheaper place to get the OEM parts, which ones I'll need exactly or if those kits are good or not.

Personally, I would only use Motorcraft timing chain related parts. I've read quite a few complaints about the Cloyes tensioners and anything of lesser quality (read Chinese) just seems like asking for problems. Lately I've been reading about eliminating the balancer shaft chain. No idea why the 4x4 engines even have this extra piece (presumably to eliminate a resonance in the engine) or what benefit is to be had by eliminating it (maybe noise).
