Please help,

I have a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT. The automatic front locking hubs were replaced with the Rugged Ridge manual locking hubs. They have worked great but I did not use the 4x4 for a while and went to engage it and they will not engage.

When I rotate the switch inside to lock into 4x4 high and the manual locking hubs are already locked the 4x4 high and 4x4 low amber lights on the dash blink multiple times then stop. This occurs several times. The fronts do not engage.

Under the truck it looks like the axles are spinning and are engaged.

Are there any known problems with the interior switch or is there a switch or module underneath that requires attention?

Thank you!

Ben

I doubt it has anything to do with your locking hubs. Those electric shift systems are prone to problems. Some of the potential areas have already been mentioned but there are other items that can fail to like the shift control module. I think the shift motor is the likely source of the problem.
