To add on, the suspension lift is much better (albeit a lot more expensive over 2'') because it affords you more ground clearance by getting the frame and all other components except for the axles higher off the ground. The body lift, on the other hand, doesn't move any of the frame or the chassis parts. It merely lifts the body of the truck off the frame to allow you to fit bigger tires. Your only additional ground clearance comes from the bigger tires.
Yep, body lift lets you fit bigger tires to gain more ground clearance since you have a 1st gen, most common cheap lift option is coil spacer in the front with war153 shackles in the rear and 3inch body lift with 33's. Suspension lift is more beneficial depending on the size, you can fit 33's and still have clearance in the fender wells for flexing on the trails and not have more ground clearance than that of a body lift.
