transmission wont shiftt.rolls in park with reverse lights on???PLEASE HELP ME!!!

hi i have 1995 explorer xlt with the the 4.0 v6 and i just got starter hooked up and ready to ride but ran into another problem..IT DOESNT MOVE?? the gearshift shifts into all of the gears and the car starts in every gear..also ive noticed that when the key is on and the gearshift is set to park the reverse lights are on for some reason?? please please help me i dont know the first thing about transmissions and dont have a clue where to start..thanks derek
