EXPLORER YEAH!!!
Alright I might just be crazy but my tire sticks out further on the passenger side of my car than the drivers side. I did get in a large crash about 2 months ago where my car went into a ditch at a local offroading area (pictures on my registry) and it did hit pretty hard on my driver side. So my question is... Could my entire axle have shifted over to the passenger side. It's less than a half an inch difference by eye ballin it but I'm more than sure something is wrong. I still drive on it fine and I looked under there and I can't really pinpoint a bent bracket, but maybe there is. I will post pictures after I get off work but it just seems like it shouldn't really be like that.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

something is bent, since once in is, and other is out, my guess would be the chassis.

Could be the frame, or brackets for the leaf springs. I'd suggest you just take it to a good alignment shop, but you could start measuring yourself....

i don't remember leaf springs in the front.

Hahahah oops, thought this was the back.... If it's the front I honestly wouldn't attempt to fix it myself. Gonna be a bent frame, have fun spending some cash and getting another alignment

You could take the front bumper off and measure the frame from the frame horns. Someone on here is bound to have the measurements off hand. If not I guess I could measure my frame later.

Went to a shop today the guy found the problem in no time sometimes it's takes a second set of eyes and the axle is shifted over ill post a picture. Of where you can see it.

Are you saying it is shifted over because of the mark where the bump stop hits the axle? Are you taking into account that the axle swings inward when it moves up to the bumpstop. Am i missing somthing everything looks as it should in that photo to me. Could be nothing frame related. Worn or shifted body mounts could cause that also. Front clip shifting over the years of bumps and jolts. Could have always been that way but you went looking for it sence you had that incident :]

Well I didn't post the other picture but the radius arm is over a little also so that points out a bit but other than that I do get what your saying about the bump stop now that I think about it. I just need to get down there and look round more but I'm prett convinced it's pushed out. What's the front clip?

It isnt uncommon on a 4wd for the front to be off center a hair, on my 1-ton that has never been in a wreck of any form or been wheeled more than pulling a load of firewood out of a feild is more than an inch off center. My 97 explorer is almost a half inch off center after the last alignment. Setting the camber can also cause what you are seeing. if one side gets more camber adjustment than the other it can cause 1 tire to stick out farther than the other. if the truck tracks straight and doesnt wear tires then i wouldnt worry about it.

Check this first. See if the body is shifted on the frame.

Front clip is everything in front of doors
