Rear Axel Shifted Back -- How do I correct?

Get that pin in the perch, then tighten up the u-bolts, make sure you go back and forth on the nuts. Perhaps what you did was tighten the u-bolt too far on one side and it twisted with axle wrap. For what you need to do, I suggest removing the u-bolt completely, may as well inspect to see if they bent at all.

Also with u-bolts, check torq after about 200 miles (1 tank of gas is a good reference point) as they tend to loosen up after being installed.

Thanks Jon, Sean, Dannyboy and NC!

My upstairs neighbor and I got it done in about an hour. We jacked the truck up until the rear wheels were fully in the air. Used jack stands of course. Then we just unbolted the rear shocks from the spring plate and then loosened the spring plate as much as we could without taking it off. Then it was a matter of a few tugs on each side to align the pins and perches and bolting things back up. Pins went into the perches perfectly this time and the lower bolt of the spring pack went right into the hole of the spring plate.

Thanks again guys!
