03 sporttrac Turbo Diesel
Thought you guy's might be interested in the bumper I built for the rear of the sport trac. I integrated a hitch as well as trailer plug and a plug for some jumper cables or my winch. Let me know what you think.

That's a quite nice looking bumper!

turbo diesel???

Awesome job man. That's damn close to what I was wanting to build for mine but it wouldn't match the winch bumper I have on the front, that and I don't have a pipe bender.

I'm almost done with my rear bumper. It's getting built from 1/4" plate steel and 3/8" 4x6 angle steel. I'm integrating the hitch into it as well. The hard part is that I'm bulding it onto the swingout tire carrier that I already built onto my truck last year.

We're gonna have to get a trail run together next spring or summer and have as many people together as possible. As soon as photobucket fixes their site I can update my bumper thread with newer pictures.

That's sweet!

perdy!

nice now loose the PA plate and ship to SD lol not bad you should get some dimensions on it so the others can piece part one

Nice bumper, how did you run the winch wires to the battery? Under the body, or through it? Also, I wanna know more about this turbo diesel...

Very nice bumper. It looks really clean. Im also intrigued by the turbo diesel...

Thanks for the feedback. I've got an idea on one for the front but I don't think I will get to it till spring time. The plan is to cut the front bumper cover where it goes from paint to the grey part. Remove the cover from there down and build the tube bumper in it's place.

I have a thread on here titled "Sport Trac re-power" that has most of the details about the diesel conversion. If anybody has any specific questions let me know and I will try to answer them.

Thanks again, John.

Curios what pipe/ tube bender you used, those are some nice bends with the different angles.

+1

I have a tube bender but have only used it once on square tube. I'm going to have to buy some round tube and start playing around.

Do you know about how much tube that required?

How is it mounted?

+2

i want to do custom bumpers as my front is cracked at the left fender and needs to be completely reworked. plus the $1400 for plate and 850 for tube bumpers custom made locally is not worth it and he was a rather big jerk so...

How much? :D

He told me in a pm he's too busy to take orders... but for the price, estimate mind you, we could keep him busy next year.

The bender I have is a home built unit. I bought the plans from a website. I think it was called gottrikes.com. It was a few years ago but if you search something like that it should come up. And yes, those angles were a pain in the a**. I think I spent three hours trying to do two bends:eek:
