Just bought a '99 Explorer and want an extra set of rims for winter snow tires. Found these for sale and the size and bolt pattern are correct but not sure about the center bore and offset. Anyone know off-hand if these will fit?

Thanks in advance...

Wish I could say for sure.
I keep seeing them on Craig's List here as well, the seller's say they fit both the Jeep and the Ex's, but I don't have the money to risk to find out.

Posting expired. People use 1st gen explorer rims on jeeps all the time. 1st gens have a larger center bore, the offset is the same between the first and second gens.

The Jeep wheels do indeed have a smaller center
bore that won't fit Explorers.

However, Explorer wheels will fit Jeeps.

I've been running Jeep wheels on my Explorer since December of 2009 (roughly 36K miles). There are others on this forum who have used them as well, but perhaps it depends on the Jeep wheel?

EDIT: The threads I found from searching are all over the place. Some people say that the center bore on the Explorer wheels are smaller, others say that the center bore on the Jeeps are smaller. All I can say is that the wheels that I have (off from an older Cherokee) seem to work fine on my 4x4 '98 Sport.

EDIT 2: According to this chart, the Explorer's center bore is smaller than the Wrangler & Cherokee.

From my own personal experience with an ex's Jeep Grand Cherokee, the first gen wheels will not fit the jeeps. The center of the jeeps unit bearings where the rotors are centered are too large for the first gen wheels to fit on. Bought a set of tires for her jeep, but them on first gen bullet holes to add some style, and they would not seat right. Maybe with some wheel spacers they would work right, but as just a straight bolt on, they will not.

You can have the bore machined wider.

i will have theese wheels and tires home here on wensday... and the plan is to use it on my 91 explorer
