1998 Explorer 5.0 “Restoration2021” project

Short trips might be worse. Last move was only a few miles, hired movers for the big & heavy stuff. Used the Ex & a small utility trailer for everything else. Too many damn trips for that everything else.
I rented a 26 ft Uhaul. Saturday was all furniture in the house plus whatever we could sandwich in there. Sunday and Monday was the garage and leftover stuff.

I like Budget Homedepot is the countries largest renter of trucks last time I checked. They also have turbo diesel engines, U haul does not
We hauled heavy stuff over divide diesels far cheaper to operate in those conditions
GOOD LUCK!! PICS!!!!!!!!!!

When we moved we rented a 15 foot U Haul to pull the trailer with my Mustang on it, & my wife drove my 00 Ranger pulling a trailer hauling her motorcycle.

So I found a 1996 Limited 5.0 EX for sale that I may go look at....

Would a 1996 limited be AWD? or was the 4wd/awd/rwd an option?

The Limited's with V8's tend to be AWD but I can't say always.... could be just RWD.... no second gen V8's / 302's had true 4x4 option. One of the seasoned pro's should be chiming in soon with final say.

You could mix most of the features in most years. The 95-98 Limited's did all have the ARC air shocks though, from 99 on that was just an option on all of them.

The 95-97's had a little better console insert, the middle one where the cup holder is. Those had a nice big rectangular storage space in it, with a nice closing cover.

All 5.0 explorers either rwd or awd
No dash switch no transfer case motor

96
Limited
Will have gt40
Engine not p, egr is run through the intakes and throttle elbow.
Round airbox and welded exhaust
Manifolds
96 limited has strange seats some
People
Love them, they are
Wider and have colored “piping” in the seat leather stitching

Making a little bit of progress today. Got the coil packs back on, the alternator bracket. Working on doing a nice job on the plug wires.

Anyone have any experience based pointers on routing the plug wires away from the exhaust manifolds?

Thermostat, water neck and bypass hoses installed.

Heater core hoses on order?
I just didnt hook them up to the core. They’re already attached to the engine side. I just wrapped up for the night. So i need to do that and install the heater control valve.
