Aerostar keyless entry question.
Like zenish said one could be wired in from another vehicle. Ford used the same parts across many cars so finding a donor would be cheap. At some point I will add it to my van along with the window auto roll down feature.- Josh P

Solved Bad water pump and/or fan clutch.
The 68 is in decent shape. It hasn't been restored so the interior shows its age, but it is 100% complete with no rust. I put a 4R70W in place of the C4 and the 8 inch rear got changed to an 8.8 out of a 97 explorer (3.73 ls). I traded the C4 for a 4 bbl carb and edelbrock performer rpm intake...- Josh P

Solved Bad water pump and/or fan clutch.
Not the LS, I own a 1989 merkur scorpio, 1986 xr4ti, 1987 ranger, 1966 f100 4wd, 1968 merc. Cougar, 1999 jeep grand Cherokee and my 1991 aerostar. My driveway is the land of forgotten fords.- Josh P

What transmission are you going to use? the aerostar clutch line won't work with the ranger m5od or TK5. The 4.0L aerostar was never offered with a manual, but it is actually pretty easy to put one in. I've done 3 to date. Get an ecm for a ranger or explorer of the same year. If you are using...- Josh P

Solved Bad water pump and/or fan clutch.
Don, the fan has the same bolt pattern and fits the hub just like the stock one. It has been on my jeep for 4 years and 3 years on my van.- Josh P

Solved Bad water pump and/or fan clutch.
I had the clutch fab go out on my van. My 1999 jeep grand electric fan kept failing every 6 months so on both vehicles I used a fan hub off a 1998 ford ranger 4.0. It is heavy duty and a fan off a 96-04 Chevy 4.3. It is 11 blades and moves as much or more air than than ford super cooling fan...- Josh P

t5 swap
Hydraulic clutch is easier to push in and never needs to be adjusted. If the slave cylinder goes out you have to pull the transmission. You could leave the hydraulic master and have an external slave move the fork. If you look in the aerostar forum under the modified aerostars I posted pictures...- Josh P

A4LD Shifting issues. 2nd missing or just hard shift?
I've had a 100% failure rate with the A4LD. I'd consider swapping in a manual, that is what I did with my 4.0L aerostar van.- Josh P

Solved 1991 Aerostar with a transmission front seal blow out issue.
It is rare to find a van that clean. I think it is worth fixing. I have not had good luck with the a4ld. I converted my van to a manual for less than what a rebuilt auto was going to cost and my mpg went up.- Josh P

Relay reference.
Chris, That is the Ignition control module. I've never owned a 3.0L van so the other guys will have to help. You need to verify that is the correct module for your vehicle. I don't know if it is ccd or push start. Also if it is push start your coil needs to have a 22k ohm resistor on it. I have...- Josh P

Spout stands for spark out. It is a grey colored jumper that when unplugged allows you to adjust the base timing without the ecm involved. If it runs good when cold and like crap when warm it is a common symptom of a failing tfi module, but there are tests you can do before throwing money at it.- Josh P

Exhaust system advice.
The 3.0L or even the 4.0L would not benefit from a true dual exhaust. I'd replace it with a single larger pipe and have it exit in front of the rear tire. A 302 will fit in the engine bay but the only way you will get it in is through the bottom.- Josh P

1995 Aerostar. E-4WD with a broken front differential.
Replacing the center section as a unit would be the easiest. I'd swap in a true dana 35 in place of the hybrid. People have done it, search for write ups.- Josh P

Solved Headlight switch socket issues.
You will need a volt/multi meter. On the wiring to the switch there is a tan wire with a white stripe. this is the 12v supply to the parking lamps from the fuse. If the fuse is verified good and there is no voltage at the switch side there is a break in that wire. If you have voltage on the...- Josh P

Jim it is the lower intake. The only thing that goes through the upper intake is air. You can still get the factory service manuals used on ebay. I'd also get a evtm cd too. that covers all the wiring and engine related items. I have an engine out of the last van I owned so I can take pictures...- Josh P

You can change the lower intake gasket with the engine in place. once the upper intake is removed it clears up a lot of room to work. Disconnecting the wiring and hoses is the most difficult part of the job.- Josh P

I want to increase the height of the rear of my 1996 Aerostar.
There is a video on youtube of an aerostar thats lifted with leaf springs in the rear. I think this is the same van that the owner put an np435 behind the 4.0L. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQE_OgUmQtA- Josh P

I'm looking at a 1988 3.0L 5 speed Aerostar with clutch & P/S issues.
If you find that there is a problem with the clutch, the ranger items work. I have converted three auto 4.0L vans to manual. 2 with a T5 and one with a M5OD. As far as the steering I'm sure the pump is part of the problem. I flushed mine and added trans x.- Josh P

1994 4.0L E-4WD Aerostar with poor fuel economy.
How did you determine the coolant temp is only in the 140s? I had a ford ranger that had a wire break to the O2 sensor and the mpg went from 21 to 13.- Josh P

1991 Chinook Aerostar. I'm looking for help with engine parts.
5500 lb curb weight is extremely impressive. My 91 extended van is around 3600. I put 250 sq/ft granite stone tile in the back which was about 1800 lbs. That put my van around 5400 lbs, I couldn't put my hand under the running board it was that low to the ground. I popped 3 tires that were extra...- Josh P

My 1994 Aerostar is blowing oil.
I wouldn't trust the factory gauge if you were able to drive 250 miles with 0 psi. Get a mechanical gauge. As far as the oil leak it could be from a crack in the head or blown head gasket.- Josh P

1988 Aerostar. It starts when it's cold but hesitates when it's hot.
Vapor lock is when the fuel is heated enough to go from liquid to vapor like when water boils. On efi cars the fuel system is under high pressure and the pump is in the tank away from the heat source helps prevent vapor lock so I doubt that is your problem. When it is hard starting is there a...- Josh P

Zenish autozone had the longer studs I needed. My wheels are off an 05 gt. I run a 245 tire in the front with a 1/4 spacer, anything wider or thicker it will rub the fender.- Josh P
