M50dr1 moving while on a hill
Wyoming is windy cause it's sandwiched between a state that sucks and another that blows. I'm wondering if the motor has a weak cylinder or two. Might be worth doing a leak down test.- Josh P

Motor & trans swap
Those LS motors can handle 4 digit power levels all day long. I'm a ford guy, but I have to admit that is impressive. Also was the LS4 the V8 found in the front wheel drive cars too?- Josh P

2000 X AWD 5.0 cranks but no start after new exhaust/cats installed
The number of times we've seen this issue, maybe 1 or 2 out of 100 times it ends up being the pcm. I've seen something as simple as a bad dpfe sensor cause a no start.- Josh P

Motor & trans swap
If you own something with one of those motors that was involved in a total loss accident. You buy the vehicle back from the insurance. Otherwise the old school stuff is the way to go.- Josh P

Motor & trans swap
You can get an engine from a junk yard for under $1,000. Find a V8 explorer same year as yours in a U pull it yard to get a V8 engine wiring harness. The swap has been done and documented on this site. A good set of aftermarket heads gets you pretty close in power as a coyote engine for less money.- Josh P

Motor & trans swap
Here's the link to the Duramax wiring harness. Simple 4 wire hookup to make the motor run. With the DSP-5 you can have 5 tunes to switch from on the fly. https://dmaxswap.com/product/custom-standalone-ecm-tcm-harnesses/- Josh P

Motor & trans swap
There's places that sell used ecoboost engines with the pcm tuned for swap projects. For less money a duramax 6.6 diesel could be put in the engine bay. With some tuning you could get 500+ hp and 900 lb/ft tq which would be pretty fun.- Josh P

2000 X AWD 5.0 cranks but no start after new exhaust/cats installed
I'm working this weekend so I won't have much time to look at wiring diagrams. Which fuse numbers did you check? Make sure you have voltage at each socket. Each coil pack has a connector with a red wire. The red wire should have 12V.- Josh P

Harbor freight has a nice big tire offroad floor jack. The part that goes under the axle is adjustable or can be unbolted and changed out with longer extensions. I talked my dad into buying one to move a kitchen cabinet with a 1 inch stone counter top on it.- Josh P

2000 X AWD 5.0 cranks but no start after new exhaust/cats installed
Ok, pats has been ruled out. Do you have spark? Fuel pressure in spec? It needs to be checked with a gauge. Harbor Freight has an inexpensive gauge set that works good.- Josh P

What can be crossed off the list of things confirmed good? The crankshaft sensor is good Was pats ruled out completely? Is the 5v reference voltage everywhere it should be?- Josh P

2000 X AWD 5.0 cranks but no start after new exhaust/cats installed
I've had my ass handed to me more than once cause of something as simple as a bad positive battery cable causing a no start. Not a perfectionist thing, and sure it may not be the root cause of your issue today, but eventually it will rise to the top of the list of things needing immediate attention.- Josh P

2000 X AWD 5.0 cranks but no start after new exhaust/cats installed
I'd suggest pulling the wiring harness connector apart to check it for corrosion. It's the black square connector at the back of the engine without a 10mm bolt. I've had a no start issue caused by that.- Josh P

I understand there's going to be emotions on both sides of this deal and I want to remain neutral on that cause everyone has a right to feel however they want.
