    Teens or Old people

I think an actuary can tell you who's the most likely to create an accident of the two groups. And the premiums that are figured& paid reflect the outcome of the stat's. There are rude older people as well as rude and dangerous other age groups. I try to stay calm around older drivers and...

    Iridium Spark Plugs?

I am thinking of pulling and replacing my 8000mi Bosch Plat's since I viewed some evidence at this site that the electrodes are prone to failure and end up breaking off into the cylinder; I don't want any trouble. I wonder too if replacing with Motorcraft 2x Plat's (AWSF22PPM) give any...

    fuel filter

I do mine before 15K, I don't want problems because of a neglected $8 part replacement. And some of that gas in the far NW might have been sitting through the winter since the demand is very low after mid-Oct; it would tend to have more impurities. Also, I would think that the more restrictive...

Need some Info Before the Dealer Sticks It To Me!

I had something similar several yrs ago but in my Ford car. The failed or partially failed part was the TPS.

    Overheating, not radiator/coolant related!!!!

red hot I remember a time when a friend of mine had been busting snow drifts in his Silverado 4x4 and pulled into the parking lot with a glowing orange-red hot exhaust . It was due to the powder snow packed up into the engine compartment and into the air intake. Maybe checking the air inlets...

    Sea Foam?

Some good ol Iowa trick Used to use diesel fuel for the same purpose. Pour slowly a quart down through the carb or throttle body while keeping the throttle up. Smokes like Uncle Buck's old beater, or much worse. It'd be good to do it in the woods during mosquito or blackfly season While on a...

How to remove tailgate interior piece?

John, Mine did/does the same thing and I thought a mount was loose or broken. Mine works, but it doesn't clean the window properly during its range of motion. I removed that panel to find out that was the way Ford intended because I found no evidence of mounting failure. While I removed...

    Torsion Bolt Coming Out?

Yeah, yeh, yeah I think I paid for a muffler alignment and rotation too. I think my simple mind was thinking of the dealer checking the frame's alignment and integrity. I think it's the allergy meds....

    Torsion Bolt Coming Out?

looks like mine Your pics are identical to the way mine look, even the same for each side. It cost me close to $500 to have mine look like that after a torsion bar adj and 4 wheel alignment at the dealer 2 yrs ago. Mine was sitting one inch lower on the driver's side rear and since I'd just...

    oil everywhere

Use a can of spray de-greaser and let it stand for a half an hr or so then hose off the engine with cold water (and using a nozle). You should probably cover the coil pack with foil before hosing. I think you could remove the hood insulation by prying out the plastic rivits. Maybe then it...

Why does everyone say remove battery cable for 10-15 minutes to reset computer?

By the book Here’s what you’ve been waiting for, but it might not be all that clear. The following procedures are from the 1999 Owner’s Manual. Both are from within the Maint. and Care chapter of the book. The first is from the Battery service, or replacement section. The second is a...

Why does everyone say remove battery cable for 10-15 minutes to reset computer?

Sorry to leave you in the dark. I have been having computer problems due to some sort of an unwanted program put on this thing .... been going round and round, but tomorrow night (Wed) I'll break out the manual and get those times. I am fairly sure Alec posted the proper proceedure to the...

Why does everyone say remove battery cable for 10-15 minutes to reset computer?

I believe my 2nd gen X owner's manual states the 10-15min disconnect for resetting, or powering down the air bags when you plan on working around the sensors. Then there are idle time requirements and also thereafter certain duration driving requirements for relearning after powering it back...

    '99 XLS Overheating Sometimes

Hopefully it's not eating it. A pressure test should rule that out. If so, head gaskets and maybe a milling of the head surfaces. The X has a short lived thermostat and also check the housing bolts for tightness since if they are like mine, they loosened up to about hand tight on their own...

    Replacement Key Costs

The way I understand it, if you have 2 working transp keys you yourself can program a working 3rd key (or more) as you would for a fob. If you only have 1 Transp key the dealer or a locksmith (with the right equip) will have to make and program the 2nd key. I had my second one made in...

    Oil Leak

First thing I'd check is the valve cover gaskets, or just see if the cover bolts/screws are loose. Could be leaking out and running onto the exhaust manif.

    Rear Wiper

Mine does it too. I went into the hatch thinking the motor mount had loosened up, was bent, or something. I didn't find any broken or bent items within. I bent the arm slightly, but it really did not cure the problem. Good to see a better arm might be avail.. I was thinking maybe replacing...

You mean getting it out? If so, go and look at my posts from approx Mid-Aug of this past summer and I wrote up the removal of the actuator + the removal and replacement of the door striker.

HELP ME trying to remove pass door panel

I think your 95 is probably like my 99. On the 99 to remove the door panel you'd remove the 2 screws as you did and take a small screw driver and gently pry out the door lever handle cover plate. I think there's a screw holding down the arm rest plate for removing too? The panel itself...

overdrive switch only works in park and D1

That's funny you found it works in the down position...now just lower your seat, don't adjust the tilt again and you are good to go No, I don't know what else to tell you except that I had a similar problem with a car (Ford) of mine that lost its cruise control and I thought that the most...

Try adjusting the tilt steering wheel too for testing a wire flexing fault of some sort.
