do I change the transmission oil or not -am moving from the west coast to the east coast with trailer

Before I left, I had a mechanic drop the pan and replace the oil filter and transmission oil. I provided the oil, filter assembly and pan gasket. It took 5 quarts of Mercon V. Since the transmission holds about 7 gallons, I will now need to replace the oil again soon. So I ended up not...

Does the BAFX OBDII Code Scanner with Forscan software display the transmission oil temperature for 2009 truck

Does the BAFX OBDII Code Scanner with a download of Forscan software display the transmission oil temperature for a 2009 explorer. I ordered one from Amazon then I canceled it because I realized that most of the discussions on the forum were old and mostly talked about older explorers. I saw...

do I change the transmission oil or not -am moving from the west coast to the east coast with trailer

The 2009 Explorer was in excellent condition, inside and out, when I bought it 3 years ago, with 89k miles. It now has 122k miles on the 4 liter V6 that has the infamous 5R55S transmission. I have never replaced the transmission fluid or the transmission filter. I presume the two previous owners...

Almost as if it's in neutral after a hard stop. Just revs.

Another possibility might be an electrical connector that is loose. Try disconnecting and reconnecting connectors on the shifter box or maybe at the transmission. I would spray some contact cleaning solvent into the connector ends before plugging them back together. Make sure the power is off...

    New tires

On my 2009 2x4 wheel drive I have 245 x 60 R18 tires. Cooper Evolution H/T tires. The H is for highway and the T is for terrain but I think that translates to "all season" rather than "All Terrain". They are M/S (mud / Snow) rated. With in a month, the Evolution tires had a slight howl...

fob works but doors will not lock or unlock, nor does panic button work

I bought a set of two fobs on Amazon for $15. Using the procedure in the owners manual, I programmed those two and my original fob together, which is required by the procedure. Thus, I have three working fobs now. Time will tell if the knock off fobs last.

fob works but doors will not lock or unlock, nor does panic button work

Thank you for the clarification of the correct module. The locksmith and I used the manual "switching the key off and on 8 times" method. No tools used. He had found a procedure on the internet. He tried three times with my fob. Then tried a new fob he had in his bins. I used the procedure...

fob works but doors will not lock or unlock, nor does panic button work

Disconnecting the battery did the trick. While it was disconnected I cleaned the turminal and the clamp. Now the doors unlock and lock. Ye'Ha! One thing is different. You have to press the unlock button to get the driver's door to unlock which also unlocks all the other doors. It used to...

fob works but doors will not lock or unlock, nor does panic button work

I have a 2009 Explorer XLT. Week before last the key FOB suddenly stopped working. This after it worked several times earlier in the day. I only have the one FOB. It has never worked since. Even though the battery was at 3.08 Volts, I replaced the battery, tested 3.4 Volts. I had a locksmith...

60 Percent Bench Seat Release Handle Part Number

Last year I bought one from Ford, for my 2009 Explorer. But I also found it on rockauto.com when I was looking for something else. Unfortunately I do not know where the receipt is to find out what part number it is. I found the part number from an online repair manual. As far as being hard...

How to correct the displayed miles per gallon?

What could have happened? The miles per gallon displayed on the dash were close to my manual calculations of miles driven per gallons filled. But then after I bought new tires of the same size and profile but ones that were also better for mud and snowy roads it suddenly made a big change. I...

    1st Post-Normal Maintenance Questions

I just bought an 09 but test drove several different 05 to 09s. They all required more foot pressure than my 01 cargo van and a bunch of new rental Ford cargo vans, 300 to 10k miles, I have driven in the last few months. So I think it is a normal feature of the older Explorers. All of them...
