Cover around steering column removal.....

OK, here's the deal.. I need to get to the ignition switch. I opened the bottom part of the cover and the switch is there but I can't get to the two screw that hold the switch in without removing the upper part of the column cover. I can't see how to take off the cover and I don't want to break it.
1991 Aerostar AWD with tilt wheel.
Do I have to remove the steering wheel?

sometimes you have to remove the dash bezel to get the cover off. or if you have tilt steering you might be able to tilt the column down and sneak it out that way too.

might also help to set the parking brake and put the gear selector in N or D

Always disconnect the battery, and wait at least 10 minutes before working on the column. This is a precaution for SRS equipped steering columns.
