Ok,
I couldn't find another place to put this. Feel free to move it.
I am in here today to start a fight.
I have worked on things for better than 25 years. I humbly have seen a lot of things.
One thing I cannot understand, for the life of me, is why people use aftermarket repair manuals. Now, occasionally, (Like ATSG, for instance), its' a good thing. But the other 99%, them books (yes, Haynes, yes Chiltons', I'm calling you out) quite frankly, suck.
They expect you to know a few things. And, they just FEEL generic. I've also found more than one discrepancy.
On the other hand, there are factory manuals.
YES, they can be expensive. But they overflow with troubleshooting charts (agonizingly step by step), excellent line drawings, and procedures that are simple to follow.
Rarely do you get "installation is the reverse of removal". Bleah
Considering most newer cars are even on free pdf or 25 dollar DVD, I can't understand why these things continue to have a market.
Thanks, I'm done venting. What say you??
Shawn
