2001 Explorer Sport Trac
Hello, Im helping my friend fix with their 2001 Explorer Sport Trac and all the windows do not work. I can’t hear anything when trying to roll down the windows, and I checked the main fuses for it and they weren’t blown out. I also put in a new power window switch and still nothing. Am I missing a fuse or is it something inside the driver door that’s broken?

It maybe the wires between drivers door and the truck. The rubber boot between the door and the body houses alot of wires...I have seen several wires stretched and or cut here causing issues like this.
Your best bet is to get a voltage meter and a wiring schematic for the drivers master switch. Test for power, test for ground. You can jumper some wires to activate each window motor. This is how you start tracking down your issue.
Do windows roll up and down from their own switches or is the whole system dead?

All the windows work through the driver's door. As said, it is not uncommon for wires to break in the rubber boot in the driver's door jam and sometimes even in the harness behind the driver's side kick panel. If you have a break on the power or ground wires going to the driver's door, nothing will work.

There's a single 10 mm bolt that holds the wiring barrel connector together. Remove it and the connector will come apart, then I'd remove the driver's door (very easy to do, just 4 bolts) to get good access to the wires inside the rubber boot.

My '01 ST had weird window issues when I first bought it. My problem was the master window switch, but broken wires are pretty common.

The whole system is dead and thanks will try that as soon as I can.

If power isn't getting to the master switch (or if the ground wire is broken) nothing will work.

anyone have a current login? or somewhere else I can download a wiring diagram? Need to hunt down the same problem, and probably a ground wire as well.
