hello, gents. i recently acquired a complete 5.0 engine out of a 2001 explorer and was curious as to what size the injectors are.

i know the heads are the gt40p's, so i figured the injectors to be 24#ers.

anyone know what size they are?

probably orange in colour, if so 19lbs, I think only 460s and 93 Cobras etc had 24s in the older models. Turbo-Coupes had like 38s? in the wrong impedence and 89-93 SC Thunderbirds had 30s and 94/95s had 36s

any of these?

actually, yes, the color is very close to the first ones (17#), but i don't understand why ford would put 19# or even 17# injectors on the 5.0 w/ gt40p heads and intake..??

is there a table or list where i can compare the numbers on the injectors to?

My stock injectors on my 98 gt40 -p were 19's, just like the orange and black on left-

I now have the beautiful green and black ones---

table? one way is send an injector out to a diesel or fuel injection place to test the flow, but someone should know what it would flow off hand

i agree--hence why i was hoping you explorer guys would know.

no one seems to know on the mustang sites i'm apart of.

I have the skinny black EV6/EV6 injectors, but they sure aren't 24's! :p: :D ;)

I have a 2000 Mountaineer with the 5.0 liter engine as well. Right not I have a Magnaflow exhaust, Torque Monster headers, Cold air intake, and an SCT tuner. I only run 91 octane or above, though usually I'll run at least 93 octane.

My question is, what are generally the benefits and drawbacks to swapping to a heavier injector? I'm tinkering with this idea, but trying to find as much info as possible before I do.

I've read that I may could bossibly see better performance off the line and at higher RPM's, but that idle may not be a stable. Can anyone confirm any of this information or add anything of significance?

They would not help. The only reason to increase fuel injector rate is if the present ones fail to deliver enough fuel. The stock injectors should be good for even a mild cam.

Does anyone know the factory cfm for the stock injector nozzles on the Cologne 4.0l pushrod engine?
