- 2001 Explorer Sport Trac
I'm getting a loud clanking sound in the Front end of my 01 Explorer Sport Trac. At low speeds (under 5 or 10 mph) I can duplicate the sound by hitting the brakes hard, causing the truck to jerk to a stop. When I do I hear a metal to metal clank pretty loud. The only other time I can hear it is when I hit a dip in the road pretty hard.
I've recently replaced the front shocks and all four ball joints. The wheel seems tight so I don't suspect an issue with the bearings, And I spent a ton of time under the truck locking for warn bushings of some sort and haven't noticed anything that would allow metal to metal contact.
Any ideas??? Its a pretty startling noise that I wanna get rid of.
