02 explorer xlt 4x4 no worky

Just bought a 02 explorer and 4 wheel drive don't work, buttons don't light or nothing lights on dash , any ideas where to start? Thanks

You might want to start by checking the fuses.

I'm having the same problem. It use to work fine.. I had a guy put a Universal Joint on because it bangs hard going into reverse. Now the 4x4 wont do anything.. Even if I give it a good gusto of gas to engage the auto 4x4 it does nothing.. I read somewhere about a box in the glove compartment. I'm looking for it now. Ill let you know what I find
