02 Mountaineer, timing chain chatter, low oil pressure

glad to hear you, got this done, and thanks for posting back, and telling every one how you completed the task at hand..keep an eye on the valve cover for any leaks..
@07gtman
Right on! In my book he did an enviable job. Not removing the valve covers clinched it. Without knowing the gasket material, if rubber, likely home free. Do they still make those awful cork-rubber combination gaskets? A daub of RTV Silicone at the junctures of the timing cover and valve covers would be good insurance.....imp

I thought the valve covers had to be removed, even if only the tensioners, guides and arms are being done...(keeping chain, gears).
So you can take short cut by only removing timing chain cover... And it won't leak later from valve cover area?

Yes, it is possible. All the fasteners for guides and tensioners are accessible with only the timing cover removed. The VC gaskets are rubber, just need to make sure they don't slide out of position as you insert the timing cover (thinking a piece of shim stock to slide under would have helped). And yes, I but a dab of gasket maker in the corners before, just in case :)
