My 00 EB has a CEL and the code has been P1151. I purchased a new Motorcraft O2 sensor from RockAuto and it was delivered today. Yes, I have searched this forum but I am looking for information on installing sensor 2 bank 1 O2 (which should be the drivers side before cat, correct?). I read to spray PB Breaker on the old sensor and let it soak. This is my first O2 sensor install so I do appreciate the help. BTW, I will need to pickup a O2 socket in order to remove and install the sensor?

More than likely the O2 sensor is not your problem, its just reporting an error. I would recommend looking upstream for the trouble.

Did you scan the function of all the O2 sensors?

Good luck.

----- On my 96 Xlt.. I just replaced both the O2 sensor before and after the catalytic.. its not hard .. just get under that truck and look.. you will need a wrench..and a bit of patience to pop out the plastic clip.. .thats it and your good!!

-----in regards to which one it is.. have it read.. and then call autozone...and just ask.. they will tell you exactly where it is..

----- you aint got to spray it with anything

--- do remember if you change one..chances are you going to have to change the other.. ..just play it by ear..and see if the Check engline light goes off again

I installed a new Motorcraft O2 sensor and the CEL hasn't come on yet. I replaced the O2 sensor last weekend and the car idles much better. I haven't felt any hesitation when acclerating on the highway or around town. My gas milesage has also increased from 17.8 to 19.2 mpg which I am very happy about.

just get under that truck and look

Can someone narrow it down a little bit as to where to look for these things?
I can't seem to find them.

?

if you know what a O2 sensor looks like you will find them easy ..popping out of the exhaust pipes...

look 02 sensor up on the internet and you will see what they look like..

P1151 OBD Trouble Code

Technical DescriptionLack of HO2S-21 Switch, Sensor Indicates Lean

Water in the harness connector
Open/shorted HO2S circuit
Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
Damaged HO2S
Damaged PCM
Fuel System:
Excessive fuel pressure
Leaking/contaminated fuel injectors
Leaking fuel pressure regulator
Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel
Vapor recovery system
Induction System:
Air leaks after the MAF
Vacuum Leaks
PCV system:
Improperly seated engine oil dipstick
EGR System:
Leaking gasket
Stuck EGR valve
Leaking diaphragm or EVR
Base Engine:
Oil overfill
Cam Timing
Cylinder compression
Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S(s)
Possible SolutionsSee the above list of causes and go from there.

Ooops
I stand corrected-
I will edit my previous post-
1151 is indeed sensor 1 bank TWO

which of course is the driver side -or left hand side bank reporting the code.

this sensor is directly under the truck near the transmission. I'd check the wiring and plug well.

Yea I followed the exhaust pipes and found it pretty easily. Thanks.
I was only able to remove one of them. The second one I could not get my hand or tools in the right position. I'll try it another time.

I disconnected the battery and the CEL has gone away. So either I replaced the bad sensor, or it is is going to take a week or so for the light to come back on.
Hopefully the former.

there are 4 sensors. 2 pre cat and 2 post.

Just wanted to make sure you were aware of the other 2 sensors on bank 2. Little harder to get to.
