Hi all....kinda new here and new to Explorers....Monday I will be picking up a 2002 Explorer XLS 4.0L A/T with 100,000 km (62,500 miles) on it.
Thanx to a lot of info gained on this site and the (i believe) honesty of the selling dealer, here is what they are doing to it for me as part of the deal. 4 new tires, new pads and rotors on all four corners, new rear coil springs, new rear seals and bearings, trans service, LOF and new fuel filter, He says he has already replaced a cracked lift gate, They will also be doing a clean and buff on the paint. I test drove it and it drove real nice (springs had not been done at this point) shifted fine...took it on the highway...no problems....

So..my question is, what else should I be looking for when I pick it up Monday ?...I have a full warranty but its only 30 days...
How do I confirm if the 4x4 system is working for instance ?
thanx!
Mike,

Thanx for the thread link..."interesting"...yes, already bought it.
I just want to be sure that I can look for any typical issues that may come up before the 30 day warranty is up.

There's another thread, but I can't find it. It's specifically about problems with 2002 Exs. There are about as many good things as the other [03,04,04] Exs, but there are many common problems unique to the 02. You might want to search that a little more.. Good luck :)

Thanx again.....how about the 4x4 system ?....should I assume if I select say the 4 wheel high button, or the others, that it should light up ? and that it will work.....I have read a lot of negatives on bad modules.....I'd like to be able to have that done under warantee if its bad..
thnx
Mke,

Of the three, only 4hi and 4lo illuminate. They should all work fine, 4auto is always on unless you switch to 4hi or 4lo. There's no light for 4auto.

Ok...good to know...thanx !

Still open to any other suggestions
