I have a 2003 sport trac. the driver seat warmer does not heat. the light comes on and stays on but no heat. the passenger side works. at on or about the same time i noticed the rear blower does not blow warm air. the lights come on and the controls still control the front radio, just no warm air? could they be related ?

how do I fix ????

No they are not related. The rear blower gets the air from the heat exchanger in the dash and travels through the center console. The seat heater should just be some kind of electric heating coil built into the seat.

I have no clue how to fix the seat.

As far as the rear blower, do you feel warm air coming out the dash vents?

thanks for helping

Yes the front dash works perfectly. Very warm air comes out of all windshield, dash and floor vents. Because both went out at the same time I honestly thought the rear blower might have an electric heater or something. Thanks again for looking at this !!!!

Well, think about it. The only controls at/for the rear blower are to control the speed and exit point. Not to control the temperature. Unless an 03 is different from an 01. :p:

broken seat warmer and back heater

that makes it all the wierder. the dash blows hot air but the back blows out cold ? I guess it must have only been coincidense ( misspelled i know) that it went out at the same time as the seat warmer.... I checked all fuses and they appeared fine. think changing them out may still help?

Did you fix the seat?

Thanks.

seat warmer problems

Nope. The dealer said the "grid" in the seat is probably broken and putting in a new one would be between $300-$600. can't exactly remember what he quoted but he could not assure me that was the problem. I believe him but need more of a gurantee before i spend that money. a friend suggested a $25 heated seat cushion you plug into the lighter. i'm going that route. For that amount of money i could install a moonroof you know.

if the seats don't have airbags, you could take them out, or disconnect the connector to the seat heaters.

measure the resistance for the heater coil in the seat.

It's pretty well a wire that you put +,- (power) to and the wire heats up.

If you measure a low resistance, the element should be ok and you need to check wiring, fuses, switches going to the element, if it's high (open circuit), then the element is broken.
