I recently bought kabukie's Eaton supercharger off of him for my 2001 Ford Ranger Edge 4.0 SOHC and have had it installed for approximately 3 months. My Ranger had 140,000 miles on it and I understood a rebuild was going to be inevitable going into this. Well, about 500 miles ago it started with a small knock so I took it into the shop where I had my engine tuned and new injectors, fuel pump, and other various improvements installed. They told me the best thing to do is just rebuild it or find a new engine, I took it to the local ford dealer as well and got the same response.

So my question is im looking at an engine and transmission pulled from 2007 Ford Mustang with 10,000 miles and was wondering if just the engine, not including intake and exhaust or transmission, would be compatible. Ill include a pic of the engine tag if that would be of any use.

Thanks.

Your best/cheapest/easyest option is to rebuild what you have.

Yea, thats what i was originally planning on. The only issue is the money, since im a college student currently, im limited on funds and i would be able to get that engine out of the mustang for around $500 when the rebuilds going to be close to $1700. But i agree that my best bet is just rebuilding my current setup and think ill just have to wait until i have the money.

He's what that complete setup looks like.

That whole setup is ony 500$ with ecu, trany, drive shaft, and all the accessories dude id jump all over that 4.0 from the stang!!!

Ask the salvage yard there to look on their Hollander and see if it says anything about the swap. Even if you do, you will still have a SOHC being boosted that was never meant to be. Building an engine for boost will be your best bet by far.

But $500 for all that is a freakin' steal! You should be able to sell the trans for that alone.

I ended up checking it out and in the '02-07s Ford changed the heads and block. So I guess no go on the complete engine swap but I'm seriously thinking about just picking it up for spare parts n sell the tranny. Ha.
