100,000 Mile Club

I'm at 254,000. I may change the plugs someday, since I never have. Then I'll figure out why the fuel gage, ABS and 4wd are on the fritz. My one and only mod had been to replace a front shock stud with a bolt - it broke when I was taking off the old shocks, and I was too cheap to buy a new part, so I cut it the rest of the way off then drilled through, replaced it with a bolt. Seems to work so far.

This summer, I'm going to have to work on some rust spots and replace the rear bumper (rusted out). Also, my sunroof leaks.

Only major breakdowns were 2 bad alternators - i've gotten so I can swap an alt in less than ten minutes while parked on the side of the road.

The only thing that I have had happen thats not been the result of something that I have done, is my radiator cracked and peed all over my engine. Had to get that replaced, only now it is leaking at the fittings where the metal lines run into it.

97 Explorer stock Sport SOHC, 4 WD, just turned 252k mileage. It runs like a champ and the body is mint. Only problems were rusting running boards (replaced) and I get so many burned out bulbs - especially fog lamps, and sometimes tail lights or headlights. Just dropped in a K&N filter. After reading this thread, since I change oil religiously every 3-4k miles, maybe it will reach 400K ? I'm already planning a rebuild if the engines goes.

350K and 400K miles!?!?!?! Geez Louis!!!! I have 118,000 miles and no problems (did replace transmission filter as normal maintenance, flushed coolant, flushed ATF, oil change every 1500 miles). My brother's X has 156Kmiles with a small Transmission leak, that will be fixed pretty soon. My Dad's X (we like explorers :D ) has 154000 miles and still runs strong but we had to replace the idler pulley. My mom's 1996 GMC Jimmy has 78K miles and doesn't even seem like it's been driven-Brand new. I have to admit, GM did a hell of a job on that truck. I have heard many complaints about that car but so far so good.
To those above 300K miles, Great job!

I'm working on it, at this rate I should have 100,000 by April :)

102,000. Just turned over 100k like a month ago.
Still runs well, that tranny though

my 95 is at about 175000

-3 tranny rebuilds within last 3 years
-new tcase
-soon like this weekend new hubs
-not oncee ever have i had anything major happen to myy 4.0 tho... no more than an alternator... gotta love that engine, the drivetrain can rot in hell tho, lol

i'm in with 100,000. replaced tranny 10,000 miles ago. runs great. hope no more tranny probs for a long time. knock on wood.

hmmm 152,000 now, need a tranny flush (prob a new tranny soon too), just changed oil, brakes, and alt. wiring.
still gotta:
lube ball joints, (got greasable ones)
change diff. fluids
grease tranny shift cable?
Install new subs
buy lift kit
.....oh im just rambling now....

--Oh yeah stock engine/tranny :p :p

I joined club almost 38K miles ago. Had several minor problems, mainly electrical, alternators, batteries etc. Also had to have Ford replace the timing chain guides in the engine after part of it came out the side of the vavle cover after getting caught up in the chain. Also had problems with the crankshaft position, truck wouldn't start, til I tapped on it. Right now I'm dealing with a clunking noise in the front end, sounds like the left side. I'm thinking the bearing. No change in turns straight or bumps, just changes with speed and sometimes sounds worse than others.

124,000 +, absolutely no problems aside from standard maintenance.

count me in too.

my 94 x sport 4x4 has 110k. when i bought her she had 95k, all put on from the same owner. i have only been able to afford used vehicles, all less than $4000.
i'll tell you what... this is the nicest rig i've ever owned.

right before i bought it, the electrics for the auto 4x4 were replaced, and the a/c was replaced. i just did the front brakes, and through a wicked stupid move while off raod, i discovered that aside from the output shaft i snapped in two a few weeks ago, the rest of my tranny is in good shape.

i need to get shocks next, then i'll be in good shape.

I'm at almost 103,000 myself :D

might as well.... my truck had 123,000 on the odo when I bought it.... at this time it's sitting on jackstands getting a major "face lift" - well, lift and stuff.... mostly lift and lots of other stuff installed.... I have replaced tranny (manual)... from the way it sounds my truck should run no problem for another 123,000 and more...

:D
:D
:D

I'm at 202,000 now :) Ready for a tune up this Saturday... hopefully that'll get me some more power...

Another happy customer

Another happy customer at 108XXX miles and counting. Changed my engine oil before going on a 1800 mile trip through, Austria, Germany, Luxemberg, France and back to Italy. Averaged 21mpg even on the Autobahn doing 80 mph! I'm hoping to reach 200K dependably - knock, knock on wood. This Explorer has definitely been my most reliable vehicle - many thanks to this board!

'93 XLT @ 113,000 I got scared. Leaks; manifold & water pump clanks rear end (u-joint, yoke?). Put in an aux. trans cooler don't know if it helped or not. Other than those minor signs of wear, No problems.

But I traded it for an '01 Edge 4.0, 4 door, 4wd w/ 7K so now it looks like I gotta start all over again

My 94 just entered this club last week (7/1/03). It was pretty cool seeing all zero's in the odometer. My truck runs great, better than when I bought it.
