11-15 PTU/PTO Interchangeability

Hi all, Im just making a post because I had a question relating to the PTU on my 15 Limited, recently I had the rear driveshaft output seal replaced as it was leaking and my mechanic noted that there was a lot of play and excess backlash in my PTU and it would need to be replaced at some point soon, my current PTU doesn't have a drain plug, later PTU's have a drain plug, as witnessed on a 19 Flex, my question is, could I order a newer flex or explorer PTU with a drain, made for a 3.5 N/A of course and put it in my 2015? I would prefer to stick to an OEM PTU but the Dorman one with its heat shield, drain plug, and very explicit fitment specifications make it very tempting.

Short answer, NO.
I checked the numbers on the Levittown Ford site and found the following;
The AT4 will only fit the Base, Limited and XLT model years up to 2015.
The Flex PTU will only fit the Flex and Lincoln MKT.
