OK I would like to put my .02 in about acetone. I have been using the stuff for a while in several applications, including organic chemistry classes in college, making surfboards, using it in my explorer, and now, getting my Masters in Biomedical Science. Benner31 has it all wrong in that most of his knowledge of acetone most likely comes from working on surfboards no doubt (being from So Cal and being a stoner). Surfboards, however, are made out of fiberglass and polyester resin or epoxy. RESIN is indeed soluable (able to be dissolved) by acetone, but I really don't think there is a single bit of resin or epoxy within a car. Seconly, the acetone that I work with in lab, is 100% acetone, unlike the kind you usually find in nail polish remover, which is usually diluted a bit and mixed with other stuff. Despite being concentrated 100% acetone, the labs I have worked in use plastic squeeze bottles to hold and spray the stuff and I have never seen it dry out or eat through any of the plasticware. Oh one other thing. If this concentrated acetone can't eat through a plastic bottle than I doubt that a 2oz / 10gallon mixture will have any adverse effects what-so-ever.
