My 5.0 has a 16lb cooling system with what appears to be a a 3 core radiator.

I went to auto zone to get a new radiator cap. Their system said i should have a 13lb system with 2 core radiator. It also said that a 4.0 should have a 16 lb system with a 1 core radiator.

What is going on? Do i have a factory freak? Maybe the car was in a front end collision.

According to the factory service manual, 14.4-17.6psi is the spec that the cap should maintain regardless of engine. The thickness of the radiator is not really important so long as it's providing adequate cooling capacity. It's possible that the original radiator was damaged or leaked and was replaced with a 3-core.

Besides, I wouldn't trust ANYthing 'the computer' says at AutoZone.

yeah things are hit and miss at autozone. Just thought it was interesting.
